Care Attendant Service (CAS)

Care Attendant Service (CAS)

It can be lonely being a carer so if you sometimes feel you need a break from caring we are here to help. We can provide extra support in your home to enable you to have some time to yourself and a break from caring for a few hours during the week.

The Care Attendants Service was set up by Bristol Black Carers in 2002 to address the needs of Black and Minority Ethnic carers in the community and to provide support to those who were in need of culturally appropriate services.

We appoint friendly, caring, reliable and responsible staff who have been carefully vetted, and can identify with all aspects of carers cultural needs.

The role of the Care Attendant is to provide non-nursing support to the person that is being cared-for and to serve as a family friend in the comfort of the carers own home.

The Care Attendant provides a sitting and befriending service to the cared-for, allowing Carers peace of mind, and enabling them to take a break from their caring role.

Services are provided to the needs of each carer and support can be provided Monday to Fridays 9am to 5pm. If you are a carer or know of someone who could benefit from our services then please give us a call!

The service is available to all carers and can be paid through a Personal Budget, Direct Payment or privately. However, carers who already receive a Personal Budget/Direct Payment have the option to choose, arrange and pay for additional sitting services direct with Bristol Black Carers.
